Google Changes AdWords Affiliate Policy

ClickNewz! Behind the Scenes with Lynn Terry: Google Changes Affiliate Policy
If you are using Google AdWords to promote an affiliate program, Google has made a change that you need to be aware of. If you don't already use landing pages, you will probably want to start using them.

If you simply link to SomeProgram.com?ID1234 then display the link as SomeProgram.com then your ads not only have to rank well and have the highest bid to show up, they also get dropped if they are not the best, as there will only be one link from SomeProgram.com showing up, not 5 or more...

But, you no longer have to show Aff in the link. I think that is a good thing since I bet many people may not have clicked on a link thinking that someone was making money off of them - though of course that is the whole point with these ads. Paying for clicks in an effort to hopefully make money.

Of course using a landing page is just good marketing anyway. That way you can attempt to capture their email address and keep selling them, instead of hoping they click through and buy the first time, which they probably won't do. Also keep in mind that they might visit your site again, but they may well click your ad the next time as well. That cost a lot more money...
